Band of Brothers
Men's Ministry

Who are we?
The Men's Ministry of Crosswalk Community Church, called Band of Brothers, exists to unite and motivate men to live a life committed to becoming more like Jesus Christ in their hearts, attitudes, and outward actions. In doing so, equip the men to reach out in their spheres of influences and introduce their "neighbors" to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
We are all about connecting men to Jesus and to each other!
What do we do and why?
Discipleship
We believe that each of us is in a continual process of learning how to be more like Jesus Christ in how we think, talk, act, and treat others. The Band of Brothers try to incorporate discipleship in every event we have and relationship we build. We set aside a time once a week for a special one-hour Bible study for men. This is an exciting opportunity to join in fellowship on a weekday morning to spend time in the Word of God, spend time growing with one another, and spend time in prayer. The discipleship opportunity is guaranteed to enrich your spiritual life and get your day moving in the right direction – towards God! Join us for this rich time of study. This is an open group so come anytime and bring a friend.
When: Every Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 a.m.
Location: The Church's Parlor Room

Band of Brothers Men's Breakfast
The Band of Brothers believes that in order to become the man that God wants us to be that we need to surround ourselves with godly examples. We cannot grow in the Christian walk while in isolation or be wallowing in our own area of struggle, addiction, or hidden sin. We each need help and that is why we are a Band of Brothers! We come together to support one another, to encourage one another, and to keep one another accountable. We meet once a month for an exciting program designed to strengthen relationships amongst the men of the community, promote fellowship, and encourage one another in our daily lives. This is an opportunity to share in the "best darn breakfast in town" cooked by our own men, network with other men on a spiritual journey, hear the stories of others and learn from them, interact with the Word of God, and share in a time of worship and prayer. The door is open and you have an open invitation. We have plenty of food and a seat reserved for you!
When: 8:30 - 10:00 am; 3rd Saturday of each month (it is the 2nd Saturday in May)
Location: Gymnasium

Crosswalk Men's Retreat: Every March, the Men's Ministry sponsors a time of retreat. We are planning to meet again for our 5th Annual Men's Retreat on the weekend of March 7-9, 2008 at Redwood Christian Park in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We are inviting Pastor Doug Stevens of The Renewal Project to come and deliver the teachings. We expect this to be a strong time of teaching and equipping on leadership and living uncompromising lives of godly character through the power of Jesus Christ through the annoiting of His Holy Spirit. Once again, we are looking to provide a weekend of power and annoiting so that each men in attendance can grow in his relationship with God and in his Band of Brothers.

Join us for a great day of fishing and fellowship. We may be "fishers of men," but sometimes we've got to get out there and catch a couple of fish too. Dates TBA
Leadership Development
We believe that the future of our community is depedent on godly people being raised up to not only have the competencies to lead, but more importantly the godly character required to do the right thing at the right time. We want to do the harder right rather than the easier wrong in every arena of life because God calls us to be salt and light to our generation. With men ranging in ages from their formative teenage years to their wise and seasoned 90s, the Band of Brothers facilitates the building of intergenerational relationships among men so that we can grow deeper in our walks with Christ and have a lasting impact on our communities. We can make a difference in our world one person at a time, one leader at a time, one family at a time! Built upon the foundation of our faith and friendships, the Men's Ministry focuses on three vital relationships.
· To be a mentor to another man.
· To be accountable to another man.
· To be mentored by another man.
Come and find out what God has to say about men investing in the lives of another. Join us and build godly relationships that will shape history one person at a time. Beyond our regurally planned activities, to foster these key relationships, we have three mentor and/or accountability programs offered through the men's ministry. If you are interested in any of these please contact the men's ministry.

Life Transformation Groups (LTG's) are groups of 2-4 men who gather weekly to share life by keeping one another accountable along their spiritual journey. They not only share how their week is going and encourage one another with wise counsel, they also read Scripture together, and pray for one another together. This is an amazing program that is self-paced, unregulated, and easy to start up.

"The Twelve" is the Band of Brothers leadership program that is designed to target men who are actively demonstrating leadership through their testimony of service and influence within the community. This is a two-year program designed to guide each leader with 12 training sessions on the character and competencies of leadership while the leader is actively serving in leadership within the church body. The goal of The Twelve is to not simply create leaders, but to create leaders who build up the next generation of leaders. We ask that each participant not only attends each training session, but that they are also actively seeking out the leaders amidst them in their spheres of influence and equipping them to be the next leader within 2-3 years. Our primary goal is to reproduce the qualities of Christ in our own leadeship and in those we are mentoring.

Sponsored by the Crosswalk Youth Program--T.A.G. (Training A Generation)--is a rite of passage program designed to train up young high school boys into becoming godly men. For generations, boys have entered into manhood with confusion and ambiguity not knowing what it meant to be a man, nor knowing to whom or where they could turn for guidance and answers. In reality, many of us turned to the wrong people and sources to answer these pivotal questions! At Crosswalk, the Men's Ministry and Youth Ministry are teaming up to not only equip the fathers, but also the sons on what it means to enter manhood. If you are a high school boy with or without a father this is a program designed for you. If you are an adult male with a heart to raise up your high school son or a youth without a father figure then this is a program for you. There is a screening process and committment for all involved. Please contact the Youth Leaders for more information.

Welcome to Our Ministry
Over the last five years, we have seen the Men's Ministry grow along side of Crosswalk Community Church. It has been an honor to serve along side of you and to grow with you on our spiritual journey. God has us in a unique time and place as we are poised to be men of influence in our community, but we must be willing to take the necessary steps to seize the moment and lead with character and conviction in a culture that calls for compromise. We are called together to be a Band of Brothers and in being this for one another we are more than any social club, we are the Body of Christ. We are called to be leaders in our families, in our places of employment, in our community, and in our nation at a time when people are crying out for men to be strong and stand for what they believe. Are you that kind of man? Are you a man who is strong in his faith and is willing to sacrifice for the greater good? Do you want to be equipped as a leader and learn how to look at every day as an opportunity to help others?
You are invited to come check us out. We want to you to know that you are not alone if you feel like you are not the kind of man that God wants you to be. Have you fallen and made mistakes? So have we! Do you feel like you are not doing a very good job or are overwhelmed? We all struggle and get caught up in today's busy world! Are you quietly calling out for mentorship in a world that assumes you should already have it all together? You are not alone! Knowing that none of us are perfect and that we all have points of weakness, we come together as men called by God to live purposeful lives of service to learn from God and to learn from one another. Life is full of exciting opportunities!
We hope to meet you soon! It's time to get connected to the God who made you and to a group of men who will help you walk faithfully and grow stronger on your spiritual journey! You are important and we want you to know that God loves you and has a mighty plan for your life. Come experience His abundant love and His extravagent grace!
For Christ's Glory,
The Men's Ministry Leadership Team Paul writes, "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others."
